Furious that someone has dared steal a piece of his treasure, Smaug attacks the mountainside where the dwarfs have their camp. Go in with low expectations so as to be certain that they will be met or exceeded.
Before he dies, though, Thorin realizes that his greed has killed him and that the treasure is large enough to share. The goblins nearly win, but the arrival of Beorn and the eagles helps the good armies win the battle. Approaching the Misty Mountains, they take shelter from a storm in a cave that turns out to be the Great Goblin's cavern.
